Rumors of the Caught Em video series making a return
The classic ‘Orchata f*ck up and drink my sack syrup!’ line is a classic line Almonte always hears fans yell at him from across the streets of Harlem. It’s from the old viral Caught Em video series all the way from 2013 that just won’t go away. Rumors buzzed about a surprise sequel. One similar to the new Old Spice Commercial Parody that displayed Almonte’s new deadpan, satirical style which alluded to Chick Corea’s Jazz song Spain and the Realest Nigga Alive’s videos that challenged society’s hetero-normative labels. But Almonte wants a classic to stay a classic.
“The Caught Em video series was always meant to stay a trilogy,” Almonte says.
“I can’t complain about anime like Naruto being hundreds of episodes long and then turn around and make a classic series into a cashcow. The last Caught Em video has a definite end. The prankster got pranked. That’s that. I’m not ruining it with mindless sequels.”
Almonte prefers the series be remembered at its peak. Rather than drag it along until it goes stale like a bag of perfectly seasoned honey BBQ chips you refuse to throw away. Plus, Almonte has evolved. While the Caught Em video series was hilarious at the time, they are essentially d*ck jokes. Hilariously bad puns with a pinch of absurdist & slapstick humor. Almonte always focuses on the story. Every video– no matter how funny– has a message. The comedy is merely a tool. A hook. It’s not the verse. His writing skills have evolved to more allusive and cryptic. Where you probably won’t get all the jokes until you find that one nerd in the comment section that gets the references. Hell, you might not even know it’s a joke in the first place.
“Is the Caught Em video coming back? If you miss the Old Kanye, go listen to the Old Kanye.”
Almonte says, “The Caught Em video ran well. It beat the race and doesn’t have to beat it again. Let’s move onto the bigger races and see how they fair. I guarantee you my next series will beat Caught Em. And it’s already started. New York Storytimes. Dramatized. Let’s Get it.”See more content from Jeffrey on theAlmonteFilms.com.
